Care & Maintenance
Daily Cleaning
Sweep or vacuum daily using a soft-bristle attachment to remove grit and dust that can scratch the surface. Use a slightly damp mop for deeper cleaning — wring it out thoroughly so no standing water remains on the floor. Wipe up spills immediately.
What to Avoid
- Standing water or steam mops — excessive moisture can cause swelling and joint damage.
- Harsh chemicals — avoid bleach, ammonia-based cleaners, abrasive scrubs, or solvent-based products.
- Wax, oil, or polish — Pergo's surface is factory-sealed and requires no additional coating.
- Furniture without protective pads — always fit felt pads or furniture glides under chairs, tables, and cabinets to prevent scratches.
Temperature & Humidity
Maintain indoor temperature between 18–24 °C and relative humidity between 30–60% year-round. Seasonal extremes (very dry winters or humid monsoons) can cause the floor to gap or buckle. Use a humidifier or dehumidifier as needed.
Underfloor Heating
Pergo is compatible with underfloor heating systems. The surface temperature must never exceed 27 °C. Increase and decrease the heating temperature gradually (no more than 1 °C per day) to prevent thermal shock. Always use the correct underlay for heated floors.
Tips to Extend Floor Life
- Place doormats at all entrances to trap grit before it reaches the floor.
- Use curtains or blinds to limit prolonged direct sunlight — UV exposure may cause gradual fading.
- Do not drag heavy furniture across the floor — always lift or use furniture sliders.
- Keep pets' nails trimmed to minimise scratch risk.
- Replace damaged planks promptly — Pergo's click system allows individual plank replacement.
